Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 6 October 2026
The Aspirant Network (“TAN”, “we”) runs the TAN Study Engine (the “app”), a study planner for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- From your Google account, when you choose “Continue with Google”: your name, email address and profile picture. We never see or store your Google password.
- Your study activity in the app: topics and concepts you tick, study timer sessions, your daily target, flashcard ratings, MCQ answers and scores, custom targets, and when you last used the app.
- Guest use: if you continue as a guest, we create an anonymous account with no name or email. Its activity is stored the same way but cannot be linked to you.
How We Use It
- To sign you in and keep your progress, plan, timer and test history across devices.
- To show your progress, weak areas and comparisons (class Top and Average scores are shown only as combined figures, never with names).
- To show the leaderboard: your display name (first name and last initial) and study hours. You can hide yourself from it at any time on the Leaderboard page.
- To run and improve the course (for example, counting how many students completed a topic).
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who Processes It for Us
- Supabase stores the app's database and handles sign-in (servers in Mumbai, India).
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Google provides sign-in if you choose it.
They process data only to provide these services to us.
Keeping It Safe
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Each student can read only their own activity; the database enforces this. Only TAN administrators can see account details and activity, to run the course.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your account and study history while your account exists. Guest activity may be deleted at any time.
Your Choices and Rights
- Hide yourself from the leaderboard at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and all its data by writing to contact@theaspirantnetwork.com.
- You can also remove the app's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Children
The app is meant for adults preparing for the civil services examination. It is not directed at children under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
